Full size of the current “Crashbang’s Workshop” Minecraft map is too large to post to Tumblr, unfortunately.  If you really want to see it in all its 20MB glory you can click here. (via Minecraft | Crashbang’s Workshop Podcast)

So apparently with WorldEdit you can replace all of one block with all of another block.  I selected a relatively large portion of the map (a small village I had just discovered) and typed “//replace air torch” to place a torch in every free block in the selected area.
…
*sings* “I set fire to the raiiiiiiiiiin!”

So @Hasteur’s Menger Sponges have been moved to the new server.  Forgot how huge the diamond one was.

Recent Changes to the Crashbang’s Workshop Minecraft Server

  1. Yes, monsters are on.  Villagers not smart enough to stay inside at night shall be removed from the gene pool to create a smarter collection of NPCs.
  2. Consensus seemed to be that of all the mobs, endermen were the only ones truly despised.  If I tinkered things correctly, they no longer spawn.
  3. It’s a new map, and it has many villages and biomes tightly packed.  The old map was … well … old.  It also suffered from that bug were snow and ice spread unchecked to other biomes.  It was eventually patched out, but the damage was done.

TO DO:

  1. The one thing the new map does NOT have going for it is all the stuff we built!  Map editing offline is running into some difficulties (Curse you, MCEdit! *shakes gnomish fist*), but I have not given up hope that all structures great and small can be moved from the old server to the new one.

A rendered map of our current Minecraft server map, started with this seed.  The previous server (with the Lion, Menger Sponge, and other goodies) is still on the same server, but I figured out how to switch between maps with just a couple clicks so I figured I’d try it out.
As you may be able to see, there are a lot of villages on this map.  The wife and I have undertaken a project where we intend to combine them all into one sprawling suburbia.
This is going to be fun.

The best part is that since we started with an existing populated village, the NPCs have continued to spawn and move in to the new buildings.  We usually have 2-3 golems patrolling the area, and somewhat frequent zombie hordes spawning at night - even on peaceful.
